The online playground of Hilde Skjølberg

This is basically a portfolio site, which main content is pictures and images. For the best experience, I suggest using a modern web browser, like Firefox. If you are viewing this page with something else than a web browser, AND you don't mind reading norwegian, you might jump straight to my blog.

Who is Hebe?

[Norsk versjon]

The nick "Hebe" is something I chose back in 1995, when I took my first stumbling steps into this fabulous new world on the Internet. Back then it was actually possible to have monopoly on a four letter username. It was rather coincidental that I ended up as Hebe, but the nick has stuck with me ever since. Hebe is the name of the goddess of youth in ancient Greek mythology. Hebe is also the name of a plant. I prefer to be associated with the goddess.

The girl behind the nick is me, Hilde (31)

I was born at 5:07 pm, on friday November 26th 1976 in Akershus, Norway. That makes me Saggitarius and a Tiger, although I have neither arrows nor fangs.

I have a mom and dad who are still married after more than 30 years, a younger brother who has been married to my great sister-in-law since November 05, the worlds two most beautiful nieces, two grandmothers, an aunt and four cousins. I love my family a lot.

I'm a self-taught computer nerd (except from an elective class of programming in fifth(!) grade). I'm an avid advocate of webstandards, I'm a magician with (x)html and CSS. I so some DOMscripting, and I'm playing around with php and MySql (without mastering it to perfection just yet). I'm a helluva good Photoshopper. I have a good understanding of vector based graphics (ie with Illustrator and Flash), but can't for the life of me make something artsy with it. I've also given 3D Studio Max a try, but won't even try to fool you into believing that I'm good at it.

I work as a web developer for Norways largest online news site, VG Nett. I have no formal training in computer work. I have my degree in political science, film theory and communications.

I live in Oslo, Norway, in a one-bedroom apartment. It's the third apartment I own in four years. I first bought a tiny studio. Shortly after, my then girlfriend moved in. Then the studio got too tiny, and we bought a two-bedroom apartment. Then the love got too tiny, and we sold that one as well. Now I've got an apartment big enough to drag them in and kick them out.

I'm gay, but single. No hanky panky going on these days. I like being single, and plan to remain the master of my domain for a while (and people aren't lining up to spoil my plans either). I fear that the Gay Community will force me to return my member card and my little lesbo kit anytime soon. That's how single I am.

I have the worlds most beautiful girlfriend!

I enjoy reading. I read almost anything, mostly in English or Norwegian. I'm a regular customer at both amazon.com and amazon.co.uk (depending on the currency rates).

I like movies. I prefer watching them at a movie theater, but I'm starting to get a decent DVD collection.

You might think this story is long already - but you know what? There's more to come as soon as I'm done translating what I've already written about myself in Norwegian.
